We are a home that provides food, care, shelter, and a loving family environment for each child that comes to stay with us.
Every first Sunday of the month all three of our congregations meet together at our center to worship and share in God’s Word. There are more than 60 young children in our daily Preschool Program that engage in songs, creative arts, and academic activities. In our local community, we are involved in weekly outreaches offering ongoing support wherever we can. We donate powder milk, medicine, and basic food supplies to families in need.
October 2006 we opened our doors to under privileged and HIV-Aids affected children in Maputo. Our close relationship with Maputo Hospital Central and Matola Provincial Hospital made it possible for us to care and teach children how to manage their condition, overcome a destructive virus and believe in a tomorrow. Since then, hundreds of children have been served by our center and we have witnessed impressive results as children excel into adulthood as survivors!
Join us to provide a lifeline of hope in education. Together we can help empower change in a child’s future. Support the mission to build the Iris Matola Rio Vocational Center that will equip young teens with skills and career trades. Break the cycle of poverty by helping children grow into adults who earn higher wages, educate their own children, and hold a voice in their community.
With the help of Iris Global and other supporters we built this property in Matola Rio where you will find us today. We strongly believe that each and every child that has been a part of this center was God’s choice, even the ones that have gone to be with the Lord we trust to have been a bridge in their lives to heaven.
With the construction of our building in 2006 we were able to take on 45 children. With more children came more staff, and our beloved Mozambican staff are an integral part of our center. Each educator and team member bring a unique aspect to our family. In fact, our onsite church began thanks to the musical talents of Vovo Cumbane, a caretaker here at the time. He would bring his guitar and spend time singing and worshiping with the children. He planted a seed that would grow to attract the local community through our doors. As the church grew, our once huge building began busting at the seams, but by the Lord's provision through our fantastic supporters we expanded the property and build a church and a house for Corrie and Heleninha. The home where you will likely stay when you come visit us!
Through God’s continuous love and provision, we've been able to build a boy’s dormitory that houses 14 teenage youngsters. They have two bedrooms and a lounge area for tea and coffee! Praise the Lord, we did the same for the girls 12 years and older. We also opened a new Pre-school at Jonasse and our coming soon PreSchool location is Chinonanquila.
We offer free meals often after church services and transportation throughout the week to our community.
Every child here has their own story to tell, and often it's a very difficult one but we believe Isaiah 54:13 has been prophesied over our center from the very beginning and this alone has been our greatest prayer for these children:
“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.”
Everyone here is extremely grateful for your continuous donations and prayers which enable us to change the lives of these amazing children. A special thank you to our sponsor families, without whom none of this would be possible.
